music review:

Various ::: "Black Paradigm"

dark electronics from Western Australia

This compilation features 12 dark-electro-industrialish bands from Western Australia spread over 53 minutes. Mostly all these bands sound pretty similar - so it's hard to describe each one seperately. Dark, offbeat, quirky, instrumental electro-techno-industrial intelligent dance music (IDM) sums it up. My highlights include, Audio Cephlon's crunchy sample-heavy trip-hop track "Calx", "2 Headless Mary" by Red Kurb Kiss, "In here, with us" by anubis complex, Bio Mekanik's "Embrace the Machine", Fate Razor's "King Circuit" (one of only 2 tracks with vocals), Cambion's mellower track "Odic Fluid", Cell 7 "the second man"

Other groups are Lethe and Middle Chamber (who do gothicy-new-classical-type-electro), Hogans Anti-Heroes (doof which sounds like it was done on a pc tracker program), aeon (housey-industrial), Synthetic (melodramatic scary darkwave-electro). I've listened to this a CD several times and apart from a few tracks it's all pretty good and accomplished. The production is top class. I think that if you like one of the tracks you'll probably like the lot.
